3D Infrastructure, Architecture, and 3D Scanning of a Structure

Whether it concerns a shopping center, a classic theatre, a historic canal house, a church, or a residential home in good or poor condition—our scanning division has mapped them all. A great example is the Predator House of Diergaarde Blijdorp Zoo in Rotterdam. For the renovation of the building, detailed color scans of the entire structure were required. Based on the scan model, a 3D CAD model was created on which the architectural firm could base its renovation work. Another advantage of digitally mapping a building is that you can monitor changes during the construction process and even perform a baseline (zero) measurement of the current situation. Within a few days, we deliver the data so you can set up a BIM model. These combined advantages make working with 3D scanning the logical choice for digitizing infrastructure and architectural projects.

Scanning All Concrete or Stone Structures for 3D Infrastructure Projects

3D scanning is especially useful for large constructions made of concrete or stone. Our Faro 3D scanning products are lightweight and compact in size, allowing us to place them anywhere and scan from any angle in 360 degrees. Some good examples of large and small stone and concrete structures we have scanned include:

  • Pre-war building on Bloemsingel, Groningen
  • Koepelkerk (Dome Church) in Amsterdam
  • Diergaarde Blijdorp Zoo
  • Villas and monuments for architects

This makes it an excellent way to capture the current infrastructure and related monuments/buildings in 3D so they can always be used in the future. Please note: we do not create 3D animation models.

Want to Have a New 3D Scan of a Structure Made? Schedule an Appointment

Thanks to our advanced 3D laser scanner, we can create an accurate 3D model of an existing environment. Our team of experts is ready to show how our laser scanning tools deliver fast and efficient results. Whether you need a detailed reconstruction of a historical wooden building, a modern architectural structure, or complex installations—our laser scanning technology can handle it with ease.

We have extensive experience in the construction and architectural sectors as well as in the process and manufacturing industries (see also our reference list). Our team members are fully VCA certified and aware of the risks in such environments. Contact us to schedule an appointment with a 3D construction specialist at 3DLS.
